Summer Reads: My Reading List

Picture
A couple of weeks ago I did a post about my book recommendations! I just thought that I would follow up by telling you what is on my reading list for the summer!
Sweetbitter By Stephanie Danler

When I first learnt about this book, I was reading about it in the New York Times Book Review section that they have! Once I read what it was about, I automatically knew I wanted to read it! I read about Danler's "Sweetbitter" about a year ago, but ever since then I've been seeing it everywhere! It must be a sing that this has to be the next book I read!

"Newly arrived in New York City, twenty-two-year-old Tess lands a job working front of house at a celebrated downtown restaurant. What follows is her education: in champagne and cocaine, love and lust, dive bars and fine dining rooms, as she learns to navigate the chaotic, enchanting, punishing life she has chosen. The story of a young woman’s coming-of-age, set against the glitzy, grimy backdrop of New York’s most elite restaurants, in Sweetbitter Stephanie Danler deftly conjures the nonstop and high-adrenaline world of the food industry and evokes the infinite possibilities, the unbearable beauty, and the fragility and brutality of being young and adrift."

The Nest By Cynthia D-Aprix Sweeney

I found out about this book on goodreads! I saw just browsing and came upon this, The Nest by Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney! I thought that this would be a fun and interesting read! I hope I get a chance to read it this summer!

"Every family has its problems. But even among the most troubled, the Plumb family stands out as spectacularly dysfunctional. Years of simmering tensions finally reach a breaking point on an unseasonably cold afternoon in New York City as Melody, Beatrice, and Jack Plumb gather to confront their charismatic and reckless older brother, Leo, freshly released from rehab. Months earlier, an inebriated Leo got behind the wheel of a car with a nineteen-year-old waitress as his passenger. The ensuing accident has endangered the Plumbs joint trust fund, “The Nest,” which they are months away from finally receiving. Meant by their deceased father to be a modest mid-life supplement, the Plumb siblings have watched The Nest’s value soar along with the stock market and have been counting on the money to solve a number of self-inflicted problems.

Melody, a wife and mother in an upscale suburb, has an unwieldy mortgage and looming college tuition for her twin teenage daughters. Jack, an antiques dealer, has secretly borrowed against the beach cottage he shares with his husband, Walker, to keep his store open. And Bea, a once-promising short-story writer, just can’t seem to finish her overdue novel. Can Leo rescue his siblings and, by extension, the people they love? Or will everyone need to reimagine the future they’ve envisioned? Brought together as never before, Leo, Melody, Jack, and Beatrice must grapple with old resentments, present-day truths, and the significant emotional and financial toll of the accident, as well as finally acknowledge the choices they have made in their own lives.

This is a story about the power of family, the possibilities of friendship, the ways we depend upon one another and the ways we let one another down. In this tender, entertaining, and deftly written debut, Sweeney brings a remarkable cast of characters to life to illuminate what money does to relationships, what happens to our ambitions over the course of time, and the fraught yet unbreakable ties we share with those we love."

A Little Something Different By Sandy Hall

Not too long ago Ariel Bissett and Estee Lalonde did a video called 'The Make Up Book Tag' In that video they mentioned this book! The question that they answered with this book was, "Lipstick: Your favorite book kiss?!" For this question Ariel answered with this book! When she described this book she made it sound so cute!! I can't wait till I have a chance to read this book! I also recommend checking out the video! It was so fun to watch!!

"The creative writing teacher, the delivery guy, the local Starbucks baristas, his best friend, her roommate, and the squirrel in the park all have one thing in common—they believe that Gabe and Lea should get together. Lea and Gabe are in the same creative writing class. They get the same pop culture references, order the same Chinese food, and hang out in the same places. Unfortunately, Lea is reserved, Gabe has issues, and despite their initial mutual crush, it looks like they are never going to work things out.  But somehow even when nothing is going on, something is happening between them, and everyone can see it. Their creative writing teacher pushes them together. The baristas at Starbucks watch their relationship like a TV show. Their bus driver tells his wife about them. The waitress at the diner automatically seats them together. Even the squirrel who lives on the college green believes in their relationship.

Surely Gabe and Lea will figure out that they are meant to be together...."

Wildflower By Drew Barrymore

I have been a fan of Drew Barrymore's for a very long time! She has played the most funniest, corckiest, wackiest characters ever! She is SO talented! When her book first came out, she did an interview with Howard Stern talking about her book! It was so amazing to hear what she went through that I really wanted to actually read the book and find out more about her!

"Wildflower is a portrait of Drew's life in stories as she looks back on the adventures, challenges, and incredible experiences of her earlier years. It includes tales of living on her own at 14 (and how laundry may have saved her life), getting stuck in a gas station overhang on a cross country road trip, saying goodbye to her father in a way only he could have understood, and many more adventures and lessons that have led her to the successful, happy, and healthy place she is today. It is the first book Drew has written about her life since the age of 14."
I hope you enjoyed my little collection books that I look forward to bee reading in the near future! Hopefully by nice body of water!! If you have any books you would like me to check out just let me know in the comment section!
I hope you enjoyed!

Have a wonderful day!
