10/19/2018 0 Comments My Sheitels (Wigs)Hi everyone! Sheitel (Yiddish - noun): is a wig that is worn by some Orthodox Jewish married women in order to conform with the requirement of Jewish law to cover their hair. One of the reasons why an Orthodox Jewish women is obligated to wear a wig when they get married! Is because of modesty! Modesty is one of the greatest Jewish commandments for a woman! Orthadox Jewish females are obligated to cover their collarbone, elbows and knees. Generally starting at the age of 12 (most girls start practicing modesty at the age of 3!). Then when a women gets married she is to have her hair covered at ALL times! EXCEPT for when you are in private with your husband. This is another Jewish law for women's modesty, covering ones hair. The importance of modesty is to show that beauty is a divine gift! Modesty is encouraged by both Jewish men and women. To care for their appearance and always look presentable. Modesty is not to detract from our beauty. Rather, it is to channel our beauty and attractiveness so it be saved for where it belongs, within marriage. Once a Jewish women is married! They are to cover their hair right after their wedding day! Some women wear scarves and hats. Others wear Sheitels! If you read my blog regularly then you may have notice that I wear a little bit of all three, depending where I am! Usually when I go out in public I wear a Sheitel! Its the most presentable! Today I wanted to share with you the 3 Sheitels that I have! I wear all three, but for different occasions! Im just going to go through where I wear them to and a little bit about each Sheitel!
